ALCOHOL ABSTINENCE
The abstinence check is a simple and convenient urine test – no unpleasant blood tests are necessary. You can arrange an alcohol abstinence check with our assessment centre. At the first appointment, you will receive all the necessary information on the abstinence programme. Depending on the duration of the programme, you will be invited for checks 4 times within a 6-month period, or 6 times over the period of a year. The urine is examined in the specialist laboratory for a by-product known as ethyl glucuronide (EtG). If no alcohol has been consumed, no EtG will be found in the urine. After completing the abstinence programme, you will receive a certificate detailing the result and the complete period of abstinence.
